Synergies with other projects

Cooperation with other projects, especially in the EUMEDIS, programme, like EMPHIS (infectious diseases), BURNET (treatment of burns), AVICENNA.

Interconnect the work of WP2 with existing projects on medical E-learning, for example the French Medical Virtual University (Université Médicale Virtuelle Francophone) via SEPELM.

Overall Approch and Methodology

• Definition and planning of the teaching programme: choice of the high priority topics and classification according to the various partners.

• Data collection and educational contents production :
Two kinds of pedagogical contents relevant to the EMISPHER platform : Internet pedagogical contents with texts, slides and short videos and further “satellite contents” : video programmes (live or recorded) as surgical operations, lectures, slides comments, …

• Definition of an editorial policy :

Respect the charter of the Health On the Net : http://www.hon.ch/HONcode/Conduct.html : i.e. code of conduct for medical and health web sites.

Insure a best quality of the pedagogical contents (experts contents), a next editorial committee will take place in EMISPHER web site.

Propose a further video programme of the Internet contents

Interactivity : each expert responsible of his contents shall manage the interactivity fathered by his own web pages (synchronous or asynchronous interactivity).

Access to the contents : each partner choices his users (students, universitary hospital staff, GPs and specialists or free access)

• Design of the medical e-learning interface and services :
- Browser by key-words.

- Interactivity : speeches with experts to be scheduled according to the next e-learning sessions.

- Other services :

• Organisation of medical e-learning sessions and dissemination workshops : NEXT COMING

The use of modern imaging technologies, tele-medicine, virtual operation planning, etc. especially in tumour diagnostics and therapy creates the need for added competence of medical personnel.

Data collected from real patients ( e.g. from laparoscopy, endoscopy, radiology, biopsy, etc. ) at the Clinic for Surgery and Surgerical Oncology, the Clinic for Radiology and the institute for Pathology, among others, of the Charité University Hospital can be made available to students of medicine as teaching material.
